A Closer Look at NIMS Medicity

The NIMS Medicity, also known as NIMS Hospital is part of the 60-year-old Noorul Islam Educational Trust legacy and is located in the district of Thiruvananthapuram in the heart of the beautiful green state of ‘Gods Own Country’, Kerala. It can be accessed from the National Highway at Neyyattingara on the way to Kanyakumari from Thiruvananthapuram. This is a 350-bedded tertiary care super-specialty hospital that was established in 2005 and is the first foray made by the Noorul Islam Educational trust into the healthcare sector. Since then, they have left no stone unturned in their quest to make this hospital one of the topmost hospitals in Kerala with path-breaking facilities and state-of –the-art infrastructure that many of the other top hospitals are yet to introduce. This is where dedicated professionals and latest technologies unite to provide the best of healthcare.

This hospital ranks as one of the largest hospitals in southern Kerala as well as southern Tamil Nadu with over 40 departments including 20 specialties and 20 super-specialties, offering state-of –the-art medical gadgets and over 200 super-specialist doctors from all over India and abroad. The hospital also hosts a department for naturopathy and ayurveda form of treatment aside from the above specialties. Supported by more than 1500 nursing and paramedical staff, the highly qualified doctors are totally dedicated towards the restoration of their patients’ health.

The hospital campus occupies a vast space of 24 acres of land with 400,000 square feet of built-up area. Apart from the hospital, the campus also houses the Noorul Islam College of Dental Sciences and Noorul Islam College of Nursing. The NIMS Heart Foundation is a sprawling 30,000 square feet independent facility found within this campus also and is designed to be self-sufficient having the most modern infrastructures needed for advanced treatment along with the use of reusable green energy; this is a first of its kind path-breaking initiative in the health sector in India and was much-appreciated by WHO as well as the UN General Assembly.

Its treatment interventions include super-specialty cases involving cardiology, nephrology, hepatology, hematology and transplantation surgery. The facilities for diagnosis, interventions and therapy of the gastric system are most advanced and currently, this hospital is the only one offering non-invasive capsule endoscopy in the south.
