Facilities at the NIMS Medicity27 July, 2017
NIMS Medicity also known as Noorul Islam Medical Science and Research Foundation is a 350-bedded tertiary care super-specialty hospital complex housing over 40 specialty and super-specialty departments and there couldn’t be a better place to turn to when health takes a downturn. To complement the abilities of their specialist doctors, the hospital provides the best in infrastructure and facilities for first-class treatment to all their patients irrespective of cast, creed, color, class, credulity, origins and religion – as per the aspirations of the hospital’s founder and chairman, Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan.
It was the dream of the founder to provide affordable education and healthcare to his neighborhood; earlier on super-specialty hospitals were only for the wealthy people from the city area, but his health initiatives have put an end to this. The motto of the NIMS hospital is to provide quality medical care in spite of the patients financial status as Dr A.P. Majeed Khan firmly believes that serving God is through serving humanity first.
This hospital was the first to provide professional homecare in the form of ‘NIMS at Home’ program. A team of highly skilled professionals provide regular check-ups to disabled patients with chronic conditions who are unable to visit the hospital. This innovative healthcare service provides round-the-clock individualized care to patients, socioeconomic status notwithstanding, and is relatively inexpensive.
Aside from housing all the major departments that a standard up-to-date hospital needs, NIMS Medicity also offer 7 independent ICUs, there is a vital 12-bedded Coronary ICU, an 8-bedded Cardio-thoracic ICU, a 14-bedded General Medicine ICU, a crucial 15-bedded neonatal ICU, a 12-bedded Surgical ICU, a 4-bedded nephrology ICU, etc. There is also a 24 hour primary angioplasty facility as well as a 24 hour stroke management facility.
To provide holistic treatment to the discerning patients, NIMS hospital has also included a department for Naturopathy and Ayurveda therapy. With a round-the-clock blood bank and tertiary care trauma center, this hospital is equipped for any emergency at any time of the day or night.
As a further innovation, the hospital’s gastroenterology department is the first in Kerala to introduce the latest non-invasive and painless capsule endoscopy. It is also the first to provide the Fibro Scan for aiding in liver studies.
NIMS hospital also holds the prestigious position of having Asia’s first hybrid green energy cardiac catheterization lab which was recognized by both the UN as well as WHO recently. With the introduction of green energy, the hospital doesn’t need to depend on an erratic and voltage fluctuating electricity supply from the grid for crucial machine-assisted procedures.
Aside from these facilities, the Noorul Islam trust is also running an MRCS Training program on the campus along with an IMTS and Advanced Nursing training programs. With the trusts focus being on medical care as well as education, it’s no wonder that there are three other educational institutes located at the NIMS Medicity campus, namely, the Civil Service Academy, College of Dental Sciences and the College of Paramedical Sciences.
With the most modern facilities and modern machines, the hospitals aim is to provide world-class healthcare to all, even to the poor and needy.
