NIMS Medicity Conducts Orientation and Intensive Practical Training for IGNOU MBAHCHM Trainees

NIMS Medicity conducted an orientation programme and intensive practical training sessions for the third batch of Master of Business Administration in Health Care and Hospital Management (MBAHCHM) trainees from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The programme was held from 21 October 2026 to 5 November 2026, bringing together professionals from various departments of NIMS Medicity to guide the trainees.

The training programme was organised to provide students with exposure to the different functions involved in managing a healthcare institution. Hospital management involves several areas of responsibility, including administration, finance, human resources, quality control, laboratory management, insurance, safety and facility maintenance. Understanding how these departments contribute to the functioning of a hospital is an important part of healthcare management education.

The orientation and practical training sessions were handled by senior professionals, department heads and faculty members associated with NIMS Medicity and its institutions. The sessions were led by Dr. MKC Nair, Director of NIMS Spectrum; Dr. K.A. Saju, General Manager; Dr. S. Josephine Vinitha, Principal; Dr. Sobha A., Quality Control Manager; Mr. Rajesh, Marketing and Promotions; and Dr. Sreelakshmi, Assistant Professor.

The programme also involved professionals from different operational and academic departments. These included Mr. Kishore, Project Manager; Mr. Subin Salaudeen, Laboratory Manager; Mr. Shalin Gijo, Professor; Mrs. Greesha, Associate Professor; and Mrs. Salini, Associate Professor.

Academic Coordination and Faculty Participation

The sessions were coordinated by Mrs. Sajitha, Associate Professor; Mrs. Santhiya, Senior Lecturer; and Mrs. Sruthi, Senior Lecturer. Their role included coordinating the training sessions during the programme period.

Faculty members from NIMSCON also participated in the programme. The team members included Mrs. Abiya, Mrs. Riliyanka, Mrs. Steffy, Mrs. Lintu, Mrs. Dhaneesha, Mrs. Jesna, Mrs. Vishnu Priya and Mrs. Vaishma. Their participation reflected the involvement of the institution’s academic team in supporting the training programme.

Connecting Healthcare Education with Practical Exposure

Healthcare management requires an understanding of both administrative responsibilities and the operational requirements of a hospital. Departments such as finance, human resources, quality control, laboratory services and facility management work together to support the delivery of healthcare services. Familiarity with these functions helps students understand the organisational structure of a healthcare institution.

For students pursuing the IGNOU MBAHCHM programme, exposure to professionals working in these areas provides an opportunity to connect their academic learning with the professional environment. Interactions with department representatives can also help students understand the range of responsibilities involved in hospital administration and management.

Through this orientation and intensive practical training programme, NIMS Medicity provided a learning opportunity for the third batch of IGNOU MBAHCHM trainees. The initiative reflects the institution’s involvement in supporting healthcare management education and creating opportunities for students to gain exposure to different professional functions within a hospital setting.
